Find out about the Campaign to re-open Lenton Leisure Centre

Noel Street Leisure Centre

Nottingham City Council has announced that it intends to close four swimming pools in Nottingham in order to save money, including the whole of Noel Street Leisure Centre. We believe that this is a wrong and a short-sighted decision.

Why campaign?

Noel Street Leisure Centre is one of the few facilities in a disadvantaged area of Nottingham. It provides a diversion for many children who may otherwise be bored and getting into trouble. It also is an ideal pool for adults who care about their health to keep fit. At the centre of Nottingham's Asian Community, its all-women sessions provide swimming opportunities for women who may otherwise be excluded.
At a time when the government is both promising to tackle anti-social behaviour and encouraging people to become fitter and less obese, it is perverse to close one of the few facilities to assist in these plans.

Closing the pool means:

How do I get involved?

Noel Street is due to close "by 2007" so we still have time to save it.
