Minutes of meeting Noel Street Baths Campaign of 9th August 2004

1. Andy brought a report put together by his friend 'Arguments for the health agenda for Noel St Baths'.

2. E-mail from Steph of the Lenton Community Association - they intend to undertake a feasibility study to look at taking over the running of Lenton Leisure Centre

3. Forest Fields Independent Residents' group had agreed to hand over £300 to the campaign, but there was no representative present.

4. Examine Djanogly plans: nothing has been decided.

5. Ben to find out if Noel St has or could be a listed building or heritage site. Loukas to contact Manchester regarding heritage sites.

6. Should we plan a public meeting? Invite local councillors, Lenton and Bulwell campaign members, Health Authority, New Deal, Unison rep etc. Will need to create and distribute publicity, organise a venue and invite people. Possible location: Noel St Sports Hall. Possible date: end of September. Loukas to contact Jean, the contact for Lenton(?) and Unison. Reasons for public meeting:

Contact Lindsey: talk about layout of a public meeting poster. Andy to contact Loukas to tell him whether we can get Noel St as a venue next month. Distribution of posters: put flyers in Sumac and get people to pick them up and mark off on a map where they have been placed.

7. Letter from Councillor Tom Stephenson (LibDem)

8. New Deal for Communities meeting on 5th October, 4p.m. Chris to find out if Djanogly is on the agenda and whether we can get minutes of past meetings.

9. There was a City Council Executive Board meeting on June 22nd. Ben had a copy of Key Decisions - Future Leisure Centre Provision - Report on Further Consultation.

10. Djanogly: Alex to ring Leon Unzcer, Chair of Leisure Services, to get projected figures for cost of Djanogly development in comparison to cost of refurbishing other pools. Also to obtain usage figures of Noel St Baths and how they were collated.

11. Organise a project to collect people's memories and stories of Noel St Baths.
