Present: Adrian, Helen, Sally, Carol K., Andy.
Apologies: Gail.
1. John Taylor has responded:
"Off the top of my head I can't remember exactly what month but the "unless and until" motion was passed at full Council probably about 3 or 4 years ago at the time that the mega pool on the Forest was being considered. My secretary is away on Hols at the moment but when she returns I will dig it out.
"Hugh White has never disputed with me that such a motion exists, but tried to claim he was given a legal ruling from our Solicitors that the executive Board resolution could overturn full Council.
"The solicitor concerned has left and I have had it confirmed in writing that Full Council policy will always take precedent over anything committees wish to say or do."
It seems we are caught in the middle of some sort of power struggle in the Council, but since full Council has supported a replacement pool if Noel St closes, that must have the support of a majority of local councillors.
Adrian to investigate the 'Executive Board' and to generally try and stir things.
2. There are no pool open days until October or November. We should try to think of something eye-catching for Forest Fields Day on Saturday 3rd September.
3. Andy will try to get staff to display posters and leaflets in the Centre.
4. Carol has made a banner for stalls etc. - well done Carol!
5. Adrian to mail Mike Butler and Nigel Hawkins to see if any progress has been made on Djanogly development.
6. Carol to investigate whether Civic Society have any interest in the Noel Street building and the space that would be taken by a new pool at Dajnogly.
7. Sally will look for local venues for a gig to raise awareness and/or funds.
Next meeting will be on Weds 8th June at 7:30pm in the Sumac Centre.
